Mike Smith

Hi. Here are a couple of sketches from Semester 1 — Observation and Experiment. I chose to draw burger vans. The one below was drawn on a windy day in B&Q's car park with my polystyrene cup of polystyrene tea perched on a hedge.


And I drew this one just as he passed overhead.

Above is an illustration from my newest book titled 'There is No Steak Buried Here' targets at children age 4 to 6 year-old. This book has won a highly commended award for the Macmillan Prize 2008.

The Flying Crocodile Train















The flying crocodile train is one of my favourite illustrations. Its from a story titled 'The Chase' which is aimed at older children from age 8 - 12 year-old. ________________________________________________

Floating like a Hot-Air Ballon





This story is titled 'I Love You, I Love You Not'. A little girl travelled back in time to meet her childhood mother. They had a fantatsic adventure with a creature called Pom-Pom. Through the process, the girl realised how much she actually loved her mum.
